DAMAI is a non-profit organization started by the disabled for
the disabled in 1998. Our primary objective is to provide people with disabilities
with the necessary skills to be independent. Since its inception five years
ago, DAMAI has contributed immensely towards this goal. We are proud to say
that we have brought about significant changes in the lives of those who
have approached us. In brief, Damai is a stepping stone for disabled
individuals who decide to embark on the long and arduous journey towards

There are at present about 210 spastic children from ages 1 to
18 receiving education therapy and rehabilitation training at the centre.
Another about 30 spastic adults work in the sheltered workshop. There are
several facilities at the Spastic Centre to provide free transport,
education and treatment (including physiotherapy, speech therapy and
occupational therapy) to the spastic children. Some of these facilities
include clinics, classrooms, hydrotherapy pool, training kitchen, computer
laboratory, library, music room, buses, shops, special sports training
equipment and a multi-purpose hall. Other therapies include hydrotherapy,
hippotherapy (riding for the disabled) and selective posterior rhizotomy.

PERKOBP has its origin as an informal support group formed in

REACH Ministry for the Hearing Impaired, SFX, PJ commenced in
1992 with 3 deaf persons and 1 interpreter. Over the last 10 years, through
the initiatives of this Ministry, more than 45 deaf persons have been
identified throughout KL Archdiocese. We are parish-based,
serving/assisting the KL Archdiocese to provide pastoral care for the deaf.
We network with parishes to pave the way for active participation and
involvement of Deaf people in parish life, and encourage deaf leadership.
Currently, there are interpreted Masses for the deaf available under the
REACH programme in the PJ and Klang districts. In addition, we provide
tailored programmes (faith, education and awareness, self development and
